在阿鲁的帮助下，我们终于在今天晚上正式恢复了 ftp.cn.FreeBSD.org 的服务。这次服务中断是由于所采用的磁盘阵列柜电源出现故障导致的，由于厂商备件不足等种种的原因，总共花费了两周的时间才把新的换上。

前一阵观察发现tarsier的负载主要来自于对内存的过度使用。遂为其增加了1GB内存，目前做压力测试中。

压力测试工具为make -j4 universe

这台Dell D600的键盘在过去一个月里面已经开始越来越多地掉键帽了，才换了不到半年呀……

快被盘阵折腾得精疲力尽的delphij和quakelee总算看到了一点曙光——quakelee同学总算在周五晚上把盘阵搞死了。

今天他说盘阵终于进入了调试界面。不管怎么说，困扰我们许久的盘阵的问题，总算是有了一点眉目。不知道台北普安科技(InfoTrend)的工程师是否能看出些端倪并修正firmware。但愿如此，我已经把我的MSN头像换成关公了。

Howard最近研究了一下Console Server，很好玩的说。Console Server是一种用于连接大量串口设备的设备，并且可以控制电源。这样调试kernel就方便多了。以前都是用直接连串口的方法。

As null@ advised, I have replaced the HY RAM Chips with KingSton chips, and everything goes well again!

And finally, it happend.

On Monday, one of our server, running FreeBSD, panic’ed with “ffs_clusteralloc: map mismatch”. This message is quite uncommon and should only happen when there is some “event” with the memory or hard disk.

I have suggested our administrator to reboot and do “fsck” on the volume, since it has very small block size and can not be checked background (I have made a change to warn about this to FreeBSD, and was MFC’ed to 5-STABLE so you will get the feature in 5.4-RELEASE). Unfortunatelly, the check is so slow and we start to suspect whether there is some hardware problem.

With FreeBSD, we have a stress test tool called “make universe”.

This will stress test your RAM, I/O, and CPU.

Then I found that my new system have defect RAM :-(

It seems that if one host is fsck’ing and the other is trying to boot, then the controller will halt. I’m so tired and sick about this!

Today I have bought a BenQ FP756-12ms LCD monitor and now I can use it at home for my developments and my *BSD involements can be better continued.
