Got FreeBSD 1.x repo, finally!

David O’Brien has gave me the FreeBSD 1.x CVS Repository and I have set up a CVSWeb view for it so it will be easy to read the code/changes.

FreeBSD 1.x was forbidden and supposed to be destroyed in May 1994, because the lawsuit of USL against BSDI, UC Berkeley, and the FreeBSD/NetBSD projects. Today, as 32V and some code in the same time was released under BSD License, it is legal to keep the repo again.

FreeBSD 1.x is based on 4.3 BSD, while FreeBSD 2.x and later are based on 4.4BSD-Lite2. The historical archive, is valuable for anyone who interested in the Operating System itself, its development, and more.

昨天俺去看了十面埋伏了，第一感觉奏4：近几年看的喜剧片，没一部比它强的。何以见得？单听场内观众频繁的、默契的、发自内心的欢笑就能证明！！什么周星驰，奏会耍点嘴皮子搞搞无厘头，场面布景都透着小家子气，缺乏想象力。看人老谋子的戏……

Seems that Windows XP SP2 CHS has not released after ENU edition released for 13 days

It seems that Microsoft is still testing/finalizing the Windows XP SP2 release. Up to today’s check, it is not released here. Interestingly, a Korean edition (Korean is another asian language, which is usually listed with Chinese) has been released much more earlier, even before Japanese and Chinese (both Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese) editions.

ps(1) patch for FreeBSD 6-CURRENT

I have finished a preliminary patchset based on Pawel’s (kern/54604), which will make ps -e usable under FreeBSD’s recent versions, without having procfs mounted.

My patchset has introduced reduced security IMO (due to my merge and rooted from recent removal of ps_argsopen sysctl, I’m not sure why this change has been taken place) so I will have to review the code more carefully. Maybe I need to introduce more sysctl?

Some thought about the recent scenario

18K, 17K, 15K, then, 4K, nobody has said “Hey, I really care about that!”, unlike the good old days every 1K grown will cause many greets.

I am really disappointed about this, and feel grief. Once you get something from its very beginning, to its grown, and saw some successes, and someone else has taken it from your hand, promising it would be even more better, say “hey, you boy ain’t capable for that task”, well, I can bear it, but I can’t simply forgive ignorance of someone that is supposed to be responsible, said reasonable, then did something regrettable.

游泳归来

本周的计划上原本没有游泳的，不过由于一些变故今天没什么事情，于是去游泳。

最近运动比较少，不过无数的人跟我说要加强锻炼，不为别人，也算为自己着想吧，要求不高，但至少得活下去，而且活得好……
