Read more...今天上午在东大参加了Dev Summit（invite only会议，主要是committer参加）上午部分的会议，主要内容是Robert Watson (“rwatson”)大长辈的BPF zero-copy和Stephen Uphoff (“ups”)的一种新锁(read-mostly lock)。拍了一些照片，不过没带线，等晚上回去整理。
今天的Dev Summit来了很多之前听说了很久的人，包括mckusick、pjd、brooks等等。上午的内容等到晚上再整理。人暂时还没认全。
Read more...今天到了东京，准备参加明天的DevSummit。说说今天的行程。
早上5点起，打车到友谊宾馆的民航售票处，5:40上车，大约6:30到首都机场。（事后证明这太早了）。
填写了一份《出境申报表》，注意填中文的就可以了。进去的时候交给海关的人即可。其他检查基本上就是简单的填表和问话，然后去登机牌写的登机口等待。
飞行时间大约3个小时，由于今天起落的飞机比较多，因此延误了一段时间。路上遇到了两次比较大的气流，降落的时候也有一次，不过规模比较小。成田机场感觉似乎比首都机场大一些？

今天，portmgr正式删除了bpm中的FreeBSD 4.x支持，至此，对FreeBSD 4.x系列长达7年的支持正式结束。
现有的使用FreeBSD 4.x的用户，应尽快升级到FreeBSD 6.2-RELEASE或更新版本；无法升级，但又需要使用ports的用户，则应使用RELEASE_4_EOL作为tag来checkout针对4.x的ports tree的最终版本。

I’m honored to be with you today for your commencement from one of the finest universities in the world. Truth be told, I never graduated from college, and this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to a college graduation. Today, I want to tell you three stories from my life. That’s it. No big deal. Just three stories.
The first story is about connecting the dots. I dropped out of Reed College after the first six months, but then stayed around as a drop-in for another 18 months or so before I really quit. So why did I drop out?
It started before I was born. My biological mother was a young, unwed graduate student, and she decided to put me up for adoption. She felt very strongly that I should be adopted by college graduates, so everything was all set for me to be adopted at birth by a lawyer and his wife – except that when I popped out they decided at the last minute that they really wanted a girl.
So my parents, who were on a waiting list, got a call in the middle of the night asking, “We’ve got an unexpected baby boy; do you want him?” They said, “Of course.” My biological mother found out later that my mother had never graduated from college and that my father had never graduated from high school. She refused to sign the final adoption papers. She only relented a few months later when my parents promised that I would go to college. This was the start in my life.
And 17 years later I did go to college. But I naively chose a college that was almost as expensive as Stanford, and all of my working-class parents’ savings were being spent on my college tuition. After six months, I couldn’t see the value in it. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it
out. And here I was spending all of the money my parents had saved their entire life.

Read more...今天终于去 FESCO 取回了去日本参加 AsiaBSDCon 2007 所需的签证。这样，去日本之前所需的法定手续就都办完了。
这次总体来说办的比较匆忙(由于只剩下8天的时间，基本上，如果没有得到签证，就得放弃)，总结一下一些相关的经验。
Read more...今天在 cnBeta 上面看到一篇新闻说soff在和腾讯就珊瑚虫QQ一案，一审败诉，判赔10万元人民币，随后求证了一下，发现是真的。
感觉真是无话可说，我们尊重法律的威严，但是我们可以不用某些公司的产品，虽然我现在也不用，但是我想，这是一个值得我们记住的日子，在那样一天，腾讯打赢了官司。
