Traditionally, FreeBSD has many NO_FOO knobs while it also has NOFOO knobs that is quite confusing. Today, Ruslan Ermilov (The Makefile guru at FreeBSD campaus) has started his NOFOO -> NO_FOO conversion, this will make everything consist.

我在许多场合公开地发表过类似的意见，有时言辞比较激烈，有时只是委婉地反对。
这种意见，同意也好，不同意也好，我希望其他人能够把它当作一种意见，而不是某种强加于人的意志。我只是说出自己的看法，并不要求任何人接受——如果他们认为这是对的，愿意接受，我当然很高兴；但如果他们觉得我说的有道理而不愿意接受，那是他们的问题；如果他们觉得我说的没道理，我很希望看到反驳的意见。我始终相信，真理越辩越明。

The RCng system was developed by NetBSD and FreeBSD have adopted it. _rc_subr_loaded is a flag that both system adopts to speed up the startup.

David O’Brien has just imported binutils 2.15 snapshot into FreeBSD src repository. What’s more, he stated that he will do gdb 6.x import soon. This will drastically improve the debug and development environment in FreeBSD.
Big news. FreeBSD is calling for more developers to take attention on 5.3-RELEASE development, the 5.3-RELEASE, a.k.a. first 5-STABLE release, will begin its release engineering process in 4-6 weeks.
If you are using FreeBSD and willing to migrate to a 5.x branch release or 5-STABLE, it is highly recommended to use -CURRENT and report any problem you encounter. Also, you can help the development by checking out something on TODO list, or resolve some problem.
I am not sure whether there’s someone who wants to pick up mono’s FreeBSD port. I personally do not want to do this :-) However it will be interesting if I have enough time to kill. And, of course, it will be good if it is released under a more loose license…
Finally the long-awaited gcc 3.4.0 RELEASE has been released. When will it be ported to FreeBSD’s main tree?
