经过近4年的努力，目前 FreeBSD 中文计划已经完成了《FreeBSD使用手册》、《FreeBSD Porter手册》的翻译，并在持续不断地加以完善并更新其内容。为了进一步改善其翻译质量，我个人一直希望将这本手册打印出来做一次比较全面的校对。

By applying an ill-advised methodology developed by inferior minds in the 1980ies to deal with incompatible operating systems from narrowminded vendors, AutoCrap[tm] is guaranteed to turn even the most portable source code into a unportable mess.

AutoCrap[tm] employs a plethora of checks for features no longer in existence on any running operating system, even if your software package does not actually come close to using that feature.

Ruslan Ermilov, a very active FreeBSD committer has recently told us that his wife is in very bad ill and that would cost a lot of money. He would like to get some financial help.

Please consider to donate. Needless to say how he is important for the FreeBSD project, From Peter Wemm (the CVS repository meister)’s statistics, he got the #2 rank of the number of commits in the src/ tree (without the kernel). He is also very active in the networking related stuff of the kernel.

今天 David Xu commit了他的新调度器(SCHED_CORE)，这个调度器基于ULE调度器，但改变了一系列算法。打算抽时间好好看一看代码。

OpenBSD实现了与FreeBSD不同的timeout功能。今天hack CARP的时候用到了，留个记号。

New Callout and Timer Facilities for NetBSD

我并不反对使用微软的产品，但是总不能写两行字，不带排版也要拿Word发吧，我觉得没有什么比在FreeBSD下收到一封包含doc文档更为讨厌的事情了，保存成rtf或者pdf不会死人，简单的东西保存成TXT不就行了？

总算做完了OpenLDAP 2.4的port，就等kris同学一声令下了。这个版本的OpenLDAP有一些非常搞笑的能力，比如SQL Backend，等等。

I have imported the latest OpenBSD netcat (a.k.a. nc(1), a very handy debugging utility) implementation to FreeBSD -CURRENT and the current plan is to MFC the stuff after one month’s settle.

Today Kip has announced that FreeBSD can now self-host (say complete the make buildworld, etc) on UltraSPARC T1 (Sun’s latest processor). The work is available on p4 at //depot/projects/kmacy_sun4v/… view.
