Finally found some time to do this, upgraded to 4.1, perhaps this will be faster?

This version is a security update. Is 4.1 production-ready? Who knows…

以前一直以为配置起来很麻烦，现在看来并不是这样。

我现在的办公室里面使用的是 Windows 打印服务器，而 Windows 打印服务器和 HP 打印机之间是通过 TCP/IP 连接的（不过为什么还需要这个打印服务器？先不管它）。最近因为工作原因需要相当多的打印任务，但是我自己没有合法的 Microsoft Office 授权，因此，寻找合法的、开源解决方案便势在必行了。

我平时使用的桌面系统是 FreeBSD，采用 GNOME 作为窗口管理器，平时主要是用它来进行开发，因此也没研究过打印的事情。说了很多废话，现在我们来看在 FreeBSD 上面需要先做些什么？

3年前 FreeBSDChina.org 在上海的年会上，我们讨论了使用 wiki 来进行翻译组织的可能性，不过一直都没有实现。前天终于架了一个实验性的系统，无论如何，better late than never。

With several production environment installations, I am now very confident with RELENG_7’s stability and performance. After some discussion with alu@ we have reached the consensus that we should upgrade the system to RELENG_7.

Previously, www.FreeBSDChina.org runs a version used to call as “delphijfork”, which adds several stability improvements, performance enhancements from newer FreeBSD development branches. With RELENG_7, we are able to get rid of almost all these local hacks.

搞了好久，遇到的问题大致是：

mt.cfg现在不能用了，需要首先转换成mt-config.cgi（不看3.x时代升级手册的后果）

脚本跨域问题（为什么非得弄个编辑器？）

uname出来的是：

less升级到了406版，修了两个bug，然后本地改了一个一直让我很头疼的问题——more重新支持+开头的文件名了。

现在仅剩的问题是more对控制台的支持。只需要改1行（加1个字符），不过感觉有点太hack了。

最近在回味AsiaBSDCon的一些东西，关于对时，有一句话印象很深，在这里跟大家分享一下我的理解。

为什么不用ntpdate，而要用ntpd：

时钟的__跃变__，有时候会导致很严重的问题。许多应用程序依赖__连续__的时钟——毕竟，这是一项常见的假定，即，取得的时间是线性的，一些操作，例如数据库事务，通常会地依赖这样的事实：时间不会往回跳跃。

FreeBSD base userland最近的动作实在是太慢了，所以我觉得应该做点什么。

这次感谢Kris大长辈帮忙在 pointyhat 上测试，将 bzip2 升级到了 1.0.4 版本。

另外，今天还升级了 netcat 到 OpenBSD 4.1 的版本，这个版本所作的改动非常小。
